When children are nourished, they are better prepared to learn, participate, and grow.

For children ages 3–5 at ECD Amizero Kiziba, access to education is about more than having a classroom. It is also about creating an environment where young children feel encouraged, motivated, and ready to learn.

Through its nutrition support program, Community Raise Echoes (CRE) has been supporting young learners with weekly porridge—helping address a basic need while strengthening their experience at school.

More Than a Meal

The nutrition program has become an important part of the children's school experience.

Providing porridge gives children an additional reason to look forward to coming to school. It creates a sense of excitement and encouragement among the little ones while supporting their well-being during the school day.

The program has also helped strengthen school participation, with attendance reaching more than 90% among participating children.

For children between the ages of 3 and 5, consistent attendance matters. Every day in the classroom creates another opportunity to learn, play, develop social skills, and build the foundations they need for future education.

Encouraging Young Learners

At this age, learning happens through play, interaction, creativity, and exploration.

A child who feels welcomed, encouraged, and supported is more likely to participate actively in classroom activities.

The nutrition program has therefore become more than a feeding initiative—it is part of creating a positive and motivating learning environment for young children.
